Connest North

Not so easy day on our home-spot Le Connest.

Wind super bad gusty.

And the fog came pretty early although the forecast was due to be only total blue sky.

That's life.

So we couldn't have any hill-gliding session, the wind was too much dangerous for flying.

The good point was the super perfect fresh powder snow from last night.

At the end, that was a cool session anyway.

Connest Sud

Super Connest with south wind blowing today.

Not so often, as we go to this spot mainly when it's north wind.

A gale was hitting hard our country last three days so the snowpack is really nice with designs and some parts more than 1m fresh snow.

I hold on kinting untill the night and came back to the car along a 6km gentle forest road straight to the car. What a cool feeling, skiing in the night with the head-light and meeting two deers on my way.

Lautraet Pass

Cool session today at the Lautaret Pass.

The super warm south wind was blowing hard on our home spots near Grenoble.

Only grass and rocks now, what a pitty.

So we have to drive long distance to the Lautaret Pass wich is about 2.000 m.

Then, pretty good snowpack and a little bit of fresh powder snow from last night.

A few sprays in the powder and some great hill-gliding runs.

All right though.

Next Senepy

Cool Senepy today.

Soft south wind blowing.

Pretty warm so the snow was melting super fast unfortunately.

The super snowshower from yesterday, is already gone and we didn't enjoy any fresh powder.

That's life.

So let's looking for the next snowfall due for tuesday.

Full Moon Signaraux

Still some good snowpack remaining here in the Alps. Big snowshower is due to come on next thursday evening. But before, here is a picture from today 17 december during the sunset and "full moon session" se had till midnight. Amazing feeling. Spot : Les Signaraux. Kite : OZONE Frenzy Ultralite 13m. Senepy video

On wednesday 11 we went to the really difficult summit near Grenoble, it's called "Le Senepy".

First we have to reach the easy spot "La Pierre Plantée" from little ski-resort "Les Signaraux" 1.100m, then further ahead to the 1.700m Senepy summit.

Hard East face to climb with the kite, lot of parts with grass and stones, but amazing landscapes once at the top and wide open snow-fields with some fresh powder snow remaining.

This is the great dome right next in front of our summetime kitesurfing spot "Lake Monteynard".

Sweet home spot

Kite HQ Powerkites APEX 4 size 11m

Once again we had today a super session on our home-spot Le Connest near Grenoble city.

There are two slices of air at the moment in our country, the one below has got no wind, and the other one above (about 1.500m elevation) remains pretty windy every day.

Other point : here the snowpack is perfect, still fresh powder snow areas around, although there is really poor snowpack all other spots in the french Alps.

So, we are pretty lucky with this situation and that's the reason why we're enjoying the sessions quite every day.

I manage to find the right settings on my camera/flash so the sunset pictures are getting better and better.

Near to be OK now.

Still powder snow

Once again, this is our home spot "Le Connest", near Grenoble, France.

At the moment, it's the only one place with lot of snow and still powder fresh some parts around.

Kiters are coming from really far as there are lot of mountains with no snow, only rocks and stones.

So we are lucky and enjoying the cool conditions quite everyday.

This afternoon, really strong wind but with PEAK 6m, all was right.

Connest sunset

Strong North wind session at Le Connest today.

This spot is right next to our big city Grenoble.

So we can see the buildings and streets from the snowy domes.

Always nice sunsets up there so I kept kiting until the night and had some pic with the flash.

TROIS EVECHES

Great session today at the Lautaret Pass.

Cool S/E wind blowing so we went up to "Les Trois Evêchés" area.

Super fresh powder snow.

How lucky we are, this is the third time on these high mountains.

Winter is On and the ski-resorts are still closed.

Font d'Urle

We went to this famous spot in the southern Vercors.

No wind in the morning so we went hiking the ridge around to have a few speedriding runs.

Then, a very light breeze came for one hour so we could launch the kites and start exploring the wide area.

Fresh powder snow, nice designs, amazing landscapes, stunning backgrounds.

At the end of the afternoon, the wind came really, about 10/15 knots, but with the super dark and icy fog as well.

So we had to pack and drive back home.

That's snowkiting life.

Some great fresh powder snow fields remaining around.

Les Trois Evêchés

On wednesday november 13th, we've been lucky to reach the mythical spot "Les Trois Evêchés" from the Lautaret Pass. Short 25knds S/E wind window and dark clouds cover, but we managed it and once at the top ridge, the snow was fresh powder, wind more quiet, and the sun came with magical winter light.

For sure, un unforgettable day.

Le Casset

On monday november 11th we went to the Lautaret Pass and the wind was too much strong and gusty. So we decided to go further down the valley to a large flat field called Le Casset.

Super session snowkite today 8 november.

Spot : Col de la Croix de Fer.

Wind : South, not so stable.

Snow : perfect snowpack, a little bit soft on the top.

Lot of friends, blue sky, amazing autumn landscapes and backgrounds.

And snowshower is due for tomorrow and sunday.

Not so easy session today.

Too much cloudy all the time.

Wind super gusty 5-25 knds.

Anyway, great to be cruising around such place.

Oisans 3.500m

On this monday 28 october, I went to a glacier in the Oisans mountains, France, for snowkiting.

My goal was to make a video 2 about the Peak from Flysurfer.

Unfortunately the wind kept blowing hell about 35/40 knots and never less than 30 knots only few minutes.

So, no snowkiting session today.

That's life.

All snowkiters know it.

Next time, for sure.

First 2014 winter snowkiting session

We had today our first snowkiting session here in France, spot Col de la Croix de Fer.

Not so much snow.

We were expecting a little bit more actualy.

Anyway, the wind was pretty cool, northern 5-10 knots and the sky sometimes blue when the big clouds went away times by times.

May be a video coming tomorrow.

Arctic Kite Camps in LOFOTEN, Norway.

Here is below the video about the Arctic Kite Camps in the Lofoten islands, Norway.

That was the 1st issue and two camps were set in Ramberg Gjestegärd.

We were living in tiny small red wood houses and had all together the breakfast, lunch, dinner, in the main building at headquarters.

The courses are for new beginners and as well for advanced kiters, all with expert coaching.

Kari Schibevaag is the head-coach and she's been about 6 x worldchampion in snowkiting and wave kitesurfing.

This message here to announce that in 2014 april will be set two winter camps for snowkiting in Lofoten.

So, stay tuned about the further infos coming up about these dates and may be we'll meet together up there.

June 3rd session

What a snowkiting season !
First time I have a session on June ever.
This view is right next above the lake Grand-Maison.
Light wind and dark clouds coming fast.
Cool session anyway.
Kite : Flysurfer 21m SPEED 3.
Skis: Rossignol 180cm SOUL7.

30th May session :-)

The session yesterday 30th may was not so easy.
Super light wind, so I launched the FLYSURFER 21m Speed 3.
Have to keep super careful with this kite in the high-mountains for sure.

But I will have to stop after the highest point on this picture because of the fog coming strongly.

Spring snowkiting

The ski resorts are closed now.
But the snowkiting season is going on at least for one month more.
The road to some high-elevation pass here in the french Alps are opening so we can reach the spots above 2.500m and enjoy the spring sessions.
