Cervières

Not so perfect wind today in Cervières, Hautes-Alpes, France.
First, we have to go for 1h30 touring-skiing to get to the starting point.
Then, snowkiting uphill and reach the great real place for endless session.
But lot of massive black clouds came and strong fog so the session stopped as soon as it was just starting.
Unlucky guys we are.
After 4 PM we had to get back and 1h touring-skiing back again.
That was almost night when back to the car.
That's life.

Lautaret

Cool session at Lautaret Pass.
North-East wind, not the best one here.
Anyway, some powder runs on the spot La Pyramide.

Night session

No way to get to any snowkiting spot with so difficult roads today.
Snow storm for 24 hours.
So, I went to the field behind my place and gave a try to a night shooting with high-lights.
Not so good, I have to find the right settings, but great feeling anyway.

Petite session à Lans en Vercors, spot de l'Aigle.
Bonne poudreuse, vent trop light, un peu de soleil de temps en temps.
Malgré tout, quelques vols avec les copains Lolo, Rico, Damchab.

May be our last session at La Croix de Fer on saturday 24 november.
Cool south wind session.
But huge snowfall is due to tuesday till thursday so the road will be closed though.

No wind session

We went to the pass La Croix de Fer for a south wind session.
All the weather forecasts were announcing a cool south wind blowing all the day, especialy in the afternoon.
At the end, no wind all the day, only a few short moments of gentle breeze to make the kite flying without pulling us.
Let's see tomorrow for stronger wind forecast.
We never know.

We went twice to the pass La Croix de Fer here in France.
A wide spot perfect for the southern wind blowing.
Some fresh powder snow for the 2nd november.
Snow was melting fast on the 3rd.
Anyway, great sessions we had up there.

The issue # 4 of the White Kite Sessions about the spot Mont Barral.
This is a spot in the departement called La Drôme here in France.
Southern wind blowing is needed for this area.
Not so much snow but cool anyway.

Mont Barral.

Today, a southern wind snowkiting spot in the department La Drôme here in France.
That is a new area as we got up there for the first time and discovered all the slopes around.
Hiking for about 45mn and then snowkiting untill the sunset.
Special #4 "White Kite Sessions" issue coming out on friday.
Lot of photos, all useful details to reach this perfect place.

Cool snowkiting session on the gentle spot Saint Honoré, France, La Mure plateau.
Only 1.100m elevation but so much snow from the recent three days storm.
By the way I'm currently designing a special #3" White Kite Session"s about this day.

First session here at La Croix de Fer.
Not so bad about the snowpack.
Better than expected.
Cool north wind blowing all the day.
Lot of fog unfortunately, but blue sky coming about 4 PM.

New "White Kite" webpage

All the "boulgakow.com" webpages were designed for past years with Adobe Flash.
Last month, a friend of mine explained that the Flash pages are not available on the Apple mobile devices like iPhone, iPod, iPad.
It seems that lot of windows laptop don't browse the Flash pages as well.
So, here is the new "WHITE KITE" with only .html elements.
Not so much files as the main informations are hosted on other sites like : Vimeo, Facebook, Issuu, Blogger.
The new "White Kite" page is now super light and easy going, perfect to reach quickly the News about what's going on.

Galibier Express Video

A super warm south wind was blowing more than 30 knds for four days non-stop here in the southern Alps in France.
We went twice to the Galibier Peak near the Lautaret Pass.
Unfortunately the snow was melting so fast that it became impossible to go skiing with any pleasure.
We are now waiting for the fresh and colder conditions to go snowkiting again in the mountains.
Wait and see what will happen above 2.000m elevation.
New infos coming soon.

Col Agnel

Session de printemps au Col Agnel.
Vent pas sympa.
Neige très abondante et de bonne qualité.
Les nuages sont arrivés très vite et ont envahi le ciel totalement.
Jour blanc complet, visibilité nulle du relief, danger en cas de corniches de neige ou de cassures.
Trop d'heures de route pour ce spot.
Dommage.

Spring snowkiting

The snowkiting season is not over.
We have still two good monthes for huge sessions.
Some high-mountain spots are now reachable because of the snow melting on the too long way to get up there during the core winter.
On this picture, Johann Civel from the Ride Up crew will go further up with his kite to the summit, land the kite at the top, pack, and then freeride down the same way back.

This action, with lot other strong ones, will be available on video soon.

First day in Etna, Sicilia, for the Ozone Movie Maker event.
Great blue sky and strong wind.
Southern area of the volcano with Wareck Arnaud and Simone Borgi.

Sénépy

I went to the top of the famous mountain right in front of the Lake Monteynard, this mountain is called Sénépy.
Not so easy to reach, it's a very difficult backcountry route with super steepy slopes to be crossed.
We started from La Pierre Plantée with my friends Francis Richard and Jeff Blachon.
No video as it was too much difficult to land the kite and set the tripod.
But some pictures as you can see.

AUTRANS

Crazy weather forecasts for today.
Some say no wind at all.
Some other show 40knds on the map.
All for the same areas near Grenoble city.
Well, at the end we decided to go to Autrans and I met there a couple of my friends.
It was in the wide open valley, super flat, great wind 20/25 knds not too much gusty, cool.
Ludo built some huge kickers so the friends gave them a try and I'll edit a video about the freestyle session.
Coming soon.
Anyway, that was a good moment with friends and kiting actions.

Lautaret Pass

I went to the Lautaret Pass with my friend Christophe Aribert.
Super blue sky and good snowpack.
It's far from my place so nowadays we have great snow in Vercors mountains we don't go so often to Lautaret.
The wind was blowing North, it's definitely not the best direction up-there.
Anyway we had a great session.
Super light wind, not super stable, but cool.

Pierre Plantée

We had another cool session at this spot pretty close to Grenoble, called La Pierre Plantée, with super cold fresh powder snow.
The wind was too much light all the day, about 3 knds, but increased strong after 3 PM so the light was perfect, near sunset colors.
I lost all my video footage with a wrong action on my laptop so unfortunately no great video coming.
Anyway, some nice pictures can be shown.
Here are two of them :-)

L'Aigle.

Parti tôt ce matin pour le Connest.
Sur place, mer de nuages aux Arnauds, grand bleu sur les dômes, vent 15 knds nord.
Qui dit 15knds au parking dit 30 knds sur les crêtes, donc installation des lignes sur la 7m.
Avec les -15° et sans les gants (onglée aux dix doigts), ça me prend bien une demi-heure.
Après cet intermède, traversée du hameau, entre-temps la mer de nuages est montée fort d'un coup, il neige dans le pré du départ, on voit pas à deux mètres.
Cette mer de nuages, elle peut se dissiper dans la journée comme elle peut s'épaissir de plus en plus jusqu'à demain, et plus si affinité.
Donc, comme au poker je perds à chaque fois, retour à la voiture et route vers Lans pour rejoindre Lolo et Jahno.
Sur place à 12h30, Lans est au-dessus de la mer de nuages laissée à St Nizier, grand ciel bleu, vent bien de face à l'Aigle, pas super fort mais ça monte la pente sans temps mort, je dirais 10-13 knds.
Les vols sont agréables, vent stable, bien de face, j'ai l'impression que je sais voler avec un kite...
Après une douzaine de runs, Lolo et Jahno arrivent.
On fait une super session ensemble bien que le vent au long de l'après-midi tourne un peu Nord/Est, devienne turbulent en rouleaux, et faiblisse de plus en plus.
(C'était annoncé forcissant par nos amies les météos de tous horizons).
Avec ce vent devenu rafaleux et inconsistant, je vois qu'en fait je ne sais pas encore voler avec un kite...
(C'est bien ce qu'il me semblait).
On est rejoints par Francis et deux autres kiteurs (que je ne connais pas) et à la fin on n'arrive même plus à remonter la pente, le ventilo s'est éteint.
Quant aux vols, même en skiant à 80 km/h à la descente, on n'arrive plus à décoller.
Heureusement, on en a bien profité pendant trois heures.
C'est l'heure de prendre un café ou un chocolat à la Cabane de l'Aigle.
Arrive Jeff Marie juste quand on plie pour rentrer chez notre maison.
J'imagine que Jeff et Francis sont encore en train de kiter sous la pleine lune.
(On va bien voir si je me trompe)
Au final, une super session cet après-midi.
L'un des deux jeunes nous a dit arriver de Autrans où il y avait 25 knds minimum, super violents.
Et sur la route du retour à 17h, j'ai pu voir que la mer de nuages sur le Connest, eh bien elle s'était évaporée.
Donc, j'aurais pu gagner au poker, mais j'ai pas joué.
C'est pas grave, la session vol de pente à l'Aigle était carrément sympa.
Voilà.

Power of Three

We were snowkiting at the Lautaret Pass on february the 2nd.
Pretty cold south wind.
Blue sky, 40cm fresh powder snow.
I met up-there a lot of my snowkiting friends and so happy about it.
In the afternoon came the Ride-Up crew, Johann Civel, Wareck Arnaud, Rémi Dinneur.
Wareck had an idea, he wanted to make a photo, with the high-mountains of La Meije in the background, two kiters going downhill straight with the kite pretty low close to the snow, and then having Johann Civel starting with the two kiters but instead of the downhill run, he had to make a freestyle trick just in front of his two friends.
Wareck wanted to get this picture, Johann high grabbing the ski and the two other kiters below on the snow.
We did it a few time in order to get the right timing.
I made this picture above.
And as well we did some video footage about the trick.

A super session today at the Lautaret Pass.
So happy to meet all my snowkiting friends up-there.
Blue sky, 40cm fresh powder snow, gentle south wind.
We stay kiting around the Jardin Alpin area.
Lot of friends stopped early because of the super cold near minus fifteen.
A nice picture with the same video footage will come out soon.
